Mary Louise Futhey

 Mary Louise Futhey, of Elliot Lake, died unexpectedly January 31, 2026, in her 72nd year. To meet Mary Lou was an unforgettable experience. There was a mischievous smile, a twinkle in her eye, and that delightful, distinctive laugh. To know Mary Lou was equally unforgettable: She was a fierce ally, a wickedly funny companion and most importantly, a kind soul. She loved the outdoors, good conversation and always had time for cats and dogs -- and they loved her right back. Born December 23rd, 1954 in Chapleau, Ontario. Dearly missed by her best friend, Olivia Lee. Also mourned by Jessica Linton and husband David. Survived by siblings John Futhey of Teeswater, Elaine Futhey of Charlottesville, Virginia, David Futhey of Chapleau, Carole Halstead of Thunder Bay and Patricia Vaughan (Greg) of Chapleau. Auntie Lou is fondly remembered by several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Predeceased by her parents, Lenore and John Futhey, sister-in-law Alda Futhey and goddaughter Erin Lee. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life and interment will take place at a later date. Donations gratefully accepted to a charity for animal welfare or a charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Alternative Funeral Services.
