Velma Perron passed away peacefully at the age of 90 on January 30, 2026, at St. Joseph's Manor in Elliot Lake. Born on July 31, 1935, Velma lived a life rooted in love, family and quiet strength.
She was predeceased by her parents, her brother, Bob, and her eldest son, Peter, along with Peter's wife, Jasmine and their unborn child, who were tragically lost in an accident in 1977. Velma was also predeceased by the love of her life, her husband, Jack Perron, who passed away on December 18, 2024. It brings us comfort to know that she is at peace and reunited with Jack, their son and those she loved.
Velma leaves behind her beloved daughter, Christine Perron (Chester), and her son Sheldon "Joey" Perron (Angele). She shared a deeply cherished bond with her granddaughter Chantal Guitard (Kenny), who was like a daughter to her. She will be lovingly remembered and missed by her grandchildren; Christopher (Natalie), Kyle (David), and Danny. And she absolutely adored her only great-grandchild, Keedan. Velma will also be fondly remembered by her sister-in-law Helen and her children, Billy, Ruth-Anne and Lisa.
Velma was a kind woman with a loving heart. Gentle and caring by nature, she also had a feisty side - if she disagreed with something, you knew it. She spoke her mind and those who loved her wouldn't have had it any other way.
In her younger years, Velma enjoyed camping and snowmobiling, and she especially loved listening to Joey play his guitar. Velma and Jack also shared a love of long car rides around the back roads of Elliot Lake. In more recent times. she would often ask to go for "just one more ride". Though her health no longer allowed it, her family takes comfort in knowing that she and Jack can now enjoy those rides together once again.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at St. Joseph's Manor for the compassionate care, kindness, and respect shown to Velma. Your dedication and warmth brought comfort to her and those who loved her, and it will always be deeply appreciated.
In keeping with Velma's wishes, she will be cremated, and no service will be held.
